Our Commitment to Learners
It is critical that all our students are equipped with a foundation in faith and have a Christian perspective in their relationships with others in education, at work, in civic life, and in the world. These relationships are comprehensive and require students to have a depth of knowledge and a variety of skills in order to perform the complex tasks required of them. It is important that MLHS students are well equipped for the many challenges they face in life. Our administration and faculty constantly review our academic and co-curricular programs to insure that young people are properly prepared. We are dedicated to providing dynamic and meaningful experiences for students in the hope that they become life-long learners.
Students
Milwaukee Lutheran High School's enrollment of almost 700 includes students from communities throughout the greater Milwaukee area, including Brookfield, Cedarburg, Grafton, Menomonee Falls, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Wauwatosa, and West Bend.
While MLHS is a distinctly Lutheran high school (over 70% of students are Lutheran) students of all faiths are welcome. The multicultural student body includes 28% minority students. The average student carries a 3.0 GPA and takes at least one accelerated, honors, or advanced placement course in his/her career. Over 100 students are members of the National Honor Society.
Academic Programs
An extensive curriculum is provided for students. While college preparation is the main focus of our academic program, our student body size and teaching expertise allow us to provide a variety of elective courses which supplement the core curriculum.
- Honors and accelerated courses are offered in English, foreign language, mathematics, and science.
- Advanced Placement (AP) courses, which provide the top students a collegiate experience and possibly college credit, are offered in English Language, Spanish, Calculus AB and Calculus BC, Physics, and United States History.
