
Adam Walker signs National Letter of Intent to play Baseball at Jacksonville University.
Congratulations to MLHS senior Adam Walker, who signed a national letter of intent on November 12 to play Division 1 baseball at Jacksonville University next year. Adam has been a 1st team All-Conference selection in baseball, as well as honorable mention All-conference in basketball, and a 2nd team All-conference quarterback in football. As a Junior, Adam set three school baseball records, including most home runs in one season (8), season batting average (.569), and season slugging percentage (1.121). Adam was selected to the All-State baseball team, and was selected to participate in the Major League Baseball National High School Combine in California over the summer. Adam's parents are Adam Walker and Glynis Payne-Walker (MLHS Class of 1980).
Jacksonville University plays Division 1 baseball in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Dolphins have won 6 Conference Championships, have had 6 conference players of the year, 30 All-Americans, and 85 All-Conference selections. 91 of their former players have signed professional contracts. Most recently, former 2006 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year Daniel Murphy was called up to the Mets in 2008 and hit .313 in 131 at bats in his first stint in the Major Leagues. Head Coach Terry Alexander has been named conference coach of the year 3 times, and was selected to be an assistant for the USA National Team in 2002.
