National Honor Society (N.H.S.) is a nationally recognized organization which recognizes high school students for their outstanding academic achievement, their positive character, and their leadership and service in their school, community, and church. Our MLHS chapter emphasizes using their gifts and talents for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Students at Milwaukee Lutheran are eligible for membership following 4 semesters of school, achieving a 3.5 cumulative G.P.A. at that time. Students must complete an application process and are evaluated by a faculty committee. Induction into N.H.S. takes place in late October.
Milwaukee Lutheran’s chapter of N.H.S. is an active service organization. Members meet once a month – (generally) 1st Wednesdays - 7:15 AM in the GYM.They are required to complete 30 hours of service each semester. You will see members serving at many events around MLHS.
Announcements: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! N.H.S. collected $630.00 for our family from the S.O.S. Center! With that money we were able to purchase the family a new gas stove, some new bakeware, and a laundry basket full of personal care items for the whole family. Thank you also to all of you who purchased toys and clothing for the family! We were certainly able to experience what Scripture tells us: "Blessed to be a blessing...!"
Food items collected from the Scavenger Hunt and the class food drive competition was delivered to the area church food pantries on December 16th! Thank you to all who contributed to this cause!
Volunteer Opportunities:
1. TUTORING - Every (except Student Help) Thursday morning 7:45-8:15 in the library.
2. WRESTLING TOURNAMENT - January 15-16 - multiple tasks!
3. RED CROSS FIRE SAFETY PROJECT - Martin Luther King Day - January 18 - 8am-noon.
4. S.O.S. CENTER TUTORING - begins 2nd semester
Looking Ahead:
NEXT GENERAL MEETING = Wednesday, January 6th- 7:15 am - FIELDHOUSE (not the gym)! Our guest speaker will be Raj Chandra from HOPE Worldwide Milwaukee. He will talk to us about the Red Cross Safety Project on January 18th (MLK Day).
