The Volunteer Service Award is given "In grateful appreciation for faithful Christian service" to deserving Booster Club volunteers. This year's Volunteer Service Award winners were honored at halftime of the Varsity Football game on September 19, and their names have been added to the Volunteer Service Award plaque outside the concession stand in the field house lobby. Congratulations and thank you for your dedicated service!

General Information

The Red Knight Booster club works to promote and support the athletic programs at Milwaukee Lutheran High School. Each year the Booster Club raises over $40,000 to supplement the Athletic Department budget through various events and activities. These funds are used to pay for coaches’ clinics, equipment and supplies, uniforms, awards, and more. Without the support of the Red Knight Booster Club, Milwaukee Lutheran High School would not be able to provide our student-athletes with the high-quality athletic program that presently exists. In addition to funding, the Booster Club also provides a number of services, including publicity, MLHS clothing, food and refreshments for meetings, banquets, and events, as well as volunteer assistance at events. The Executive Board meets the first Monday of every month. Three general membership meetings are held annually, including a Kick-off Barbecue in the fall, the Red Knight Ala Carte in the winter, and Take Me Out to the Ballgame in the spring.

Red Knight Open Golf Outing

June 16, 2008 marked the sixth annual Red Knight Open Golf Outing. Held at Bristlecone Pines in Hartland, the event drew 112 golfers, and raised nearly $40,000. Profits from the event were earmarked for new graphics arts lab at Milwaukee Lutheran High School. In addition to golf, participants received lunch and dinner, and had the opportunity to win a number of outstanding prizes in silent and voice auctions. Principal Paul Bahr served as our Auctioneer. Thanks to Chairman John Sellars and the rest of the golf Outing Committee for putting together a tremendous event. Watch for information on the 2009 Outing.

Kick-Off Barbecue

The Booster Club hosts the annual Kick-Off Barbecue prior to a home football game early in the season. The Barbecue features great food and fellowship, and provides an opportunity for parents, students, and alumni to renew old friendships and make new acquaintances. The 2008 Barbecue was held on Friday, September 19, 5:00-7:00 PM. Kick-Off the new year with us!

Thanksgiving Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament

Since 1979, the Booster Club has sponsored the annual Red Knight Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament. The 2008 tournament marks the kick-off of the boys basketball season. This year's tournament, the 30^th annual, will take place on November 28 and 29.

Winter Warm-up

This event debuted in 2003 as the Century Ala Carte, in celebration of our school’s centennial. For 2009, the event became the Winter Warm-up. It is scheduled for February 12 prior to the boys’ basketball game against Cedarburg. The event features chili, baked potatoes, and ice cream. Don’t miss your opportunity to enjoy food and fellowship at this year’s Winter Warm-up.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

This event, a post-game tailgater following an early-season home baseball game, debuted in the spring of 2004. Booster Club Board spring elections were also held in connection with the event. The 2008 event was held on April 15, coinciding with the MLHS vs. Beaver Dam game. Watch for information about the next Take Me Out to the Ballgame event in the spring of 2009.

Grade School Volleyball Tournament

The Red Knight Booster Club has been sponsoring an annual volleyball tournament for our Lutheran Elementary Schools for the past 15 years. Over the years, the tournament has grown to include 16 girls teams (grade 7-8), 8 boys teams (grade 7-8), and 12 girls teams (grade 5-6). The 2009 tournament will be held April 23-25 in the MLHS Field House.

Concession Stand

The Red Knight Concession Stand offers a variety of foods and beverages, and is open at most home athletic events, including many grade school events held at MLHS. The Concession Stand provides the largest single source of funds for the Booster Club. Concession Stand manager Denise Vana needs plenty of volunteer help throughout the year, so stop by and sign up to work on some up-coming dates!

Clothing Sales

Get into the Red Knight Spirit with “Spirit-Wear”, available from the Booster Club. T-shirts, golf shirts, denim shirts, shorts, sweat shirts and sweat pants, baseball caps, visors, knit caps and scarves, jackets, flannel and fleece items—these are some of the items available. Luanne Folker is the clothing coordinator for the Booster Club. Red Knight “Spirit-Wear” is available for purchase at many events during the year.
