Course Information: This is a semester course, worth one credit. The course is open to students in grades 11 and 12 who have been approved to take the course by the Transition department.

Course Description:
The emphasis in this course is every-day writing. The process of writing, from prewriting to editing will be explored to improve the student’s ability to write. This class is designed for the struggling writer. Basic writing elements will include parts of speech, sentence structure, paragraph development, editing, writing essays, and a variety of letter writing exercises.
Course Materials:
Students will be provided with a binder for class that includes exercises for writing pattern-based sentences and essays. Additionally, we will complete exercises from a grammar and composition textbook. Students will be expected to bring their planners, binders and a pen or pencil with them to class each day.
Student Expectations: Students will be expected to follow the following 5 school guidelines for behavior as well as the policies and procedures found in our school handbook:
- Treat people with dignity and respect
- Care about others
- Follow policies and procedures
- Be on time, and ready for class
- Perform to the best of your ability
In addition, there are a few basic expectations that will need to be followed.
- Come to class prepared and on time
- NO FOOD allowed; You may bring a water bottle
- Be seated and quiet when the bell rings\Use your class time wisely
