Psychology Topics Project
1st Semester 2008
What psychological ideas have you been wondering about? What areas of psychology were you hoping we would study? Did you want to find out more about a certain topic, but we just did not spend much time on it?
This project is designed to give you a chance to look more closely at a psychology topic that you are interested in. You will choose the topic that you would like. Please note, the list is not exhaustive. If you have an idea in mind and it is not on the list, you may do it with teacher approval.

Brainwashing Mood Disorder Schizophrenia
Hypnosis Multiple Personality Disorder Subliminal Messages
Dreams Memory Information Processing
ESP Stress Anxiety Disorder
Eating Disorders Peer Pressure OCD
The Presentation: 40 points
Each presentation should be 5-7 minutes
- overview of the topic and explain any words that the class may not understand
- include interesting facts, why the topic is important or controversial
- conclude by asking if there are any questions and be prepared to answer them
Visual Aids are needed (at least 2)
The grade will be based on your information and quality of presentation
DON’T READ YOUR PAPER!!!!
The Paper: 80 points
6-8 pages and Works Cited Sheet (APA Format) – 50 points
-Done in 12-point font
-Times New Roman or Arial
- at least 5 content resources used
Only 2 online sources (need to be .gov, .org, .edu).
Use professional journals to help with finding up-to-date information.
DO NOT USE YOUR TEXTBOOK OR AN ENCYCLOPEDIA or Wikipedia.org. These are sources that should not be in a research paper.
Double Spaced APA Style of Referencing, Spelling/Punctuation – 10 points
In-text Citations are required (APA Format)
-10 references – 20 points
Presentation Quiz: 25 points
Give me one question based off of your project. This will be used on the quiz. I reserve the right to not use or change the question if needed.
TOTAL POINTS = 145à 10% of Semester Grade
Make it sparkle. Make it interesting
You may use video, handouts, charts, or worksheets to help your classmates understand your topic. You may have the class work in groups, have them take notes, or they can just listen.
The class will take a small quiz after all presentations are completed. This will be added to the final project grade.
DUE DATE – All Papers will be due October 24, 2008
Presentation Days are the following based on the number of people in each class.
October 24, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 and November 3rd. 3-4 people will go each day
QUIZ DAY is November 4th. Make sure to pay attention to other presentations. Taking notes would be helpful too.
