1. Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will have an understanding of:
· the history of forensic science.
· the roles of different professionals in evaluating a crime scene and the evidence collected.
· the role of the senses in collecting data.
· how to collect evidence without contaminating the evidence.
· how to analyze evidence to come up with relevant data.
2. Expectations
Students are expected to:
· treat the teacher with respect. (Rom. 12:1-5)
· treat other students with respect. (Mat. 7:12)
· be responsible. (Mat. 25:21)
· be neat and honest with work. (Col. 3:23)
· be on time to class and with assignments. (1 Pet. 4:7)
3. Required Materials
These materials must be brought with you daily to class:
· Blue or black pen AND pencil
· 3-ring binder with 3 section dividers (notes, worksheets, labs)
· Loose-leaf paper for assignments
· Spiral notebook or loose-leaf paper for notes
4. Grading
· Grades will consist of points accumulated through homework, labs, tests, and special assignments.
· Your grade will be determined the following ways:
· 1st 6 weeks – 80% homework and 20% participation
· 2nd 6 weeks – 75% homework, 15% participation, 10% midterm
· 3rd 6 weeks – 65% homework, 10% participation, 10% midterm, 15% final.
5. Homework
· All homework needs to follow the same format.
· In the upper right hand corner put your name (first and last), the date, and the assignment.
· If work is not done in blue or black pen or pencil it will be returned to you to be redone.
· Do not do homework on spiral paper. It will be returned to you to redo it and it will then be late, causing you to lose points.
6. Grading Scale
A 95-100% C 75-78%
A- 92-94% C- 72-74%
B+ 89-91% D+ 69-71%
B 85-88% D 65-68%
B- 82-84% D- 62-64%
C+ 79-81% F 0-61%
7. Extra Help
· I am available before school from 7:35-7:55 Tuesday – Friday.
· I am available after school every day until 3:15 (later by appointment) during the winter sport season.
· I am available after school 2:25-3:00 p.m. during Student Help Thursdays (9/28, 11/2, 11/16, 12/21, 2/8, 3/15, 4/26, 5/17).
· During the school day, my free periods during 1st semester are 2 and 6 and during 2nd semester, they are 6 and 8. If you have study hall at that time, it is a great time to see me.

8. Important Classroom Information
· Every class period starts with prayer. When we pray, I am ready to start class.
· I expect you to pay attention, participate, ask relevant questions, and have a desire to use the talents God has given you.
· I get annoyed when people disrespect my property, the school’s property and the property of other students.
· You must have a pass to enter the classroom after the bell has rung or you will be tardy. You need permission to leave the room after the bell has rung.
· 3 or more tardies in a 6-week period results in a Saturday detention.
· Any work that is to be turned in needs to go into the appropriate in box.
· You must come prepared to class. You will not be allowed to leave to go to the bathroom or your locker.
· No food or drink is allowed (exception: water).
· Do not get up while class is in session unless necessary. Throw papers away at the end and make sure your pencil is sharpened at the beginning. If your pencil breaks or you need a Kleenex, you may get up as long as you don’t distract others
· Cheating is not tolerated. If you cheat, the Academic Integrity Policy will be enforced.
· If you are absent the day an assignment is due you must turn it in as soon as you return.
· If you are absent the day before a test or quiz you knew about you still need to take it.
· If you are absent it is your responsibility to find out what you missed. You have two days to turn in work assigned while you were absent without losing credit.
· If you are gone on a school field trip, homework/quizzes/tests need to be done ahead of time or you will lose credit.
· BE IN DRESS CODE!! I do not care to see what color underwear you are wearing or wonder how you can wear pants with the waistband at your knees. I also do not want to see your belly or your cleavage.
· Fire Procedure – Exit the classroom and exit the school by the doors to the left. Remain quiet in the hallway and outside.
· Tornado Procedure – Enter freshmen hall. Stand quietly in the hallway.
· Medical Procedure – If you have a medical condition I need to be aware of, please tell me. If you have a medical emergency during class, let me know right away.
· The stuff on the walls is mine. Please respect it.
· The walls were painted recently. Don’t mess them up.
· Listen carefully. Siebarth trivia will be on every test.
