COURSE.TITLE YEAR PREREQUISITES CREDIT
FRESHMAN RELIGION (RE 110) 9 REQUIRED OF ALL FRESHMEN 2
This course pursues a chronological study of the Old Testament. The faith and the lives of the people, especially in their Covenant relationship with God, are studied in order to provide the student with a fuller and deeper understanding of their own relationship with God. Special emphasis is placed on the Messianic prophesies and their fulfillment in our Lord Jesus Christ.
SOPHOMORE RELIGION (RE 210) 10 REQUIRED OF ALL SOPHOMORES 2
This course focuses on the life of Christ as portrayed in the four Gospels with an emphasis on its impact on the personal life of the student. Time is also spent on understanding the Church as God's mission as shown in the book of Acts and helping the student to understand the Church and themselves in light of the Christian past.
JUNIOR RELIGION (RE 310) 11 REQUIRED OF ALL JUNIORS 2
This course deals with the practical problems of Christian living in the personal and social dimensions as presented in 1st Corinthians. Significant time is also spent bringing the main thrust of Paul's letter to the Romans into clear focus - that faith in the gracious righteousness of God makes the person alive to God, himself, and others in the world.
SENIOR RELIGION (RE 410) 12 REQUIRED OF ALL SENIORS 2
This course consists of a systematic study of the Apostolic writings from James through Revelation. Emphasis is placed upon the teachings of Christ as found in the Gospels, Christian apologetics, and contemporary issues preparing our students for life in college and the world.
HEALTHY MINDS/ HEALTHY BODIES (RE 120) 9, 10, 11, 12 NONE 1
This course will cover four basic themes: mental health, social health, physical health, and spiritual health. The aim of the course is for students to become more aware of the positives and negatives of the choices they make in regards to the four basic themes. Class work and discussion are designed to help the students achieve a healthy lifestyle.
MARRIAGE & FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS (RE 420) 11, 12 NONE 1
This course covers a Christian understanding of the value of marriage in the culture of American society. The course is designed for students to see why God’s design for marriage is the best for the individual, couple, family and society. Class work and discussion are designed to give a basic understanding of personal relationships, communication skills, the importance of faith, finances and parenting within a Christian marriage.
COMMUNITY SERVICE I (RE 450) and II (RE 460) 12 NONE 1
This is an elective course for seniors in which students do supervised volunteer work in a church setting, community organization, or school. The coordinator for the course will assist in the selection of the work site. Students must have an approved setting prior to the start of the course. Students will use their study hall(s) or work after school at their volunteer site. The coordinator will conduct a Bible study on developing a servant attitude at the start of the course. The student will be responsible for writing journals, keeping records of work hours, and writing a culminating paper on their experience. Prospective students must complete an application process. Applications are available in the Guidance Office. (Limited enrollment)
READINGS IN CHRISTIAN LITERATURE (RE 500) 11, 12 ELECTIVE 1
This Junior/Senior Elective is a seminar-style course that revolves around the study of 2-4 Christian books. Topics change each semester depending on the instructor’s choice. Enrollment in the class does require the purchase of selected books. (Material fees not to exceed $20.)
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS CREDITS: 8 (1 credit = 1 semester of work)
