FINAL PAPER – 2nd YEAR

ONE SEMESTER OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

CHECK POINT IS DUE: November 14, 2008    FINAL PAPER IS DUE: December 17, 2008

 

I. How it must be presented

A. Must be typed (word processor) with double spacing

B. Left margin - 1 1/2"

C. Must be 3-hole punched and fastened in a 3-prong folder

D. Your first and last name must be printed in black magic marker across the top of the folder. Do not put class period on the front cover as this changes from year to year. (NOTE: This folder must be kept until you graduate!!!!!!)

E. Suggested: If using a word processor, choose Times New Roman; Titles may be fancy. Top, right & bottom margins - 1". Use a 12-point font.

 

II. Content - Add these pages to the end of last year's work. They must be in this order. Each section must be on a separate piece of paper with a title at the top of each page.

A. Last year's test results from the end of the semester

 

B. This year's test results from the beginning of the semester

 

C. This piece of paper entitled "FINAL PAPER - 2nd YEAR"

 

D. Put a title at the top of the page. Goal Setting.

Using your fitness results from this semester, list your present scores, not to include body fat, and then re-set the scores showing what you would like to achieve on each of the fitness tests at the next testing. Make them realistic. Make sure you use the correct test scores.

 

E. Put a title at the top of the page. Fitness status – Fitness scores from the end of your last semester of
physical education must be used for the comparison!

a. Which of the fitness tests and body fat results showed improvement since the end of your last semester of PE?

b. Which stayed the same or got worse?

c. What physical activity have you done over the summer or during the school year and how did that affect your scores?

 

F. Re-do the personal fitness program you developed last year. Put it on the form provided. You are

adding muscular fitness from last year’s effort. This is a program you should be following.

 

G. The piece of paper we gave you entitled “Components of Physical Education.”

 

H. Put a title at the top of the page. PE units and fitness

a. List 4 units you have had in physical education while you have been at MLHS.

b. List 4 fitness components (2 health related & 2 skill related) that could be improved by participating in each unit. (There should be a total of 16 components listed.)

c. For EACH component list 2 specific skills you did in each unit to contribute to those fitness components. BE SPECIFIC! (There should be a total of 32 skills listed.)

 

H. The piece of paper we gave you entitled “SCORING GUIDE FOR FITNESS FOLDER (SECOND YEAR – FIRST SEMESTER)”

 

III. How it will be Graded

A. The paper will be 10% of your semester grade.

B. If it is not turned in by the end of the semester, the student will receive an F at zero percent.

C. The paper itself will be graded in the following areas

1. Content - 2/3

2. Presentation and that includes grammar, punctuation & following directions for presenting the paper - 1/3

D. If you lose your fitness results printout, you may obtain another one for $1.00.

E. You must turn in your completed folder by the checkpoint & due dates. After 4 days, for each day it is late, you will lose 1 point per day from your unit grade. Failure to turn it in by the end of the unit results in that unit grade being lowered one full letter grade. An academic citation will be given if the fitness folder is not turned in within 5 school days of each due date.
